Laugh at the Internet

Because the internet is so funny, and then sometimes it's just ridiculous.

Being a nice person is so fun

Waiter messes something up? You can see the relief on their faces when you don’t scream and swear at them about it

Extra tickets at an arcade/prize place? Watch a little kid’s face light up when you give them a bunch of tickets

There are too many assholes in this world. Be a nice person.

Yasssssss

I cannot tell you how much of a relief it was when people at work were actually nice to me if I screwed up. It made me want to give them a metal or free food or something.

Tbh I think everyone should work in food service or retail at least once just to understand how to be nice to people behind the counter.

#DONT FUCKING TOUCH ME IM NOT OVER THIs

friendly reminder that when the actor who played khal drogo met the actress who plays daenerys he shouted “WIFEY!” and tackled her

Also reminder that during one of the sex scenes they were supposed to film, he came on with a sock puppet on his dick and Emilia Clarke was laughing so hard they had to take a ten minute break.

My life is
INFINITELY better knowing those tidbits of information

at the Q&A panel I went to with him he said before every sex scene with her he would go “I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY” before getting into character and going at it

these two are everything

My dear, dear friend Robin makes rad folk punk music. She is currently stuck in my hometown (small town, conservative NC) with car troubles and mounting bills. Her insurance doesn’t cover her HRT and she has to travel pretty far to get to a decent endocrinologist. She’s trying to save up money to move in with her friends in Orlando, where she will have better access to healthcare and a house of people who love and support her.

First, she has to get her car fixed and pay her bills and save up enough for the move in November.

SO I’m directing the fabulous folks of tumblr to her bandcamp page! You can download her music for free or name a price. If you like what you hear and have the ability to contribute when downloading, you totally should. It would help her out, and also help out your ears! She writes awesome songs about her transition experience and whiskey and love and how Jared Leto can eat a dick.

You should totally pass this along <3

i hate black girls

the sentence above is racist, but if you replace black girls with white girls you get a funny 1000+ note text post instead

its finally time someone pointed this out

changing it to white girls is not racist

it is sexist, and that’s why i don’t like it but

saying you hate white people does not have the same impact as saying you hate black people.

An easy way to understand this concept is to compare racism to earthquakes. Earthquakes are measured using the Richter magnitude scale. This scale classifies quakes based on their power. Now, for a moment let’s assume that we can measure racism using this same scale.

In the instance above, the party in question is attempting to say that “i hate black girls” is as bad as saying “i hate white girls.” Well let’s place each statement on the scale:

Chart from Wikipedia page

Now, let’s see. “I hate black girls.” Well, looking at history and the present, it’s clear that that phrase has been propagated by government policies, the media, society in general and has had vast, long lasting effects on the targeted group. Those affects can clearly be seen and represents a real problem that the black community has had to face for decades. It’s a problem that most likely won’t go away for years and years to come. Usually this would be like a magnitude 7 racist statement at the very least but for the sake of the argument and I guess what can only be called “good intentions” I’m gonna downgrade it to a magnitude 4.0:

"Noticeable shaking of indoor objects and rattling noises. Felt by most people in the affected area. Slightly felt outside. Generally causes none to minimal damage. Moderate to significant damage very unlikely. Some objects may fall off shelves or be knocked over.”

So yeah, the black women on here have seen this kind of stuff before and are shaking their heads at the pure ignorance of the statement but they’re stronger than that so they let their followers and peers know how stupid it is and continue on with their day because they have bigger fish to fry. However, they’re sick of this shit in general.

Now, let’s look at the “I hate white girls” statement. Alright, let’s see… Well, yes, it is sexist, but this scale measures how racist things are. Looking at the history, it’s clear that white women have never, ever, eeevvveeerrrr needed to worry about their race. Gender? Of course. Many, if not all women have to go through that. But white women don’t have to worry about race because they already belong to the group that’s considered the standard by today’s society. That’s what we call white privilege. Normally the Richter scale of racism wouldn’t even pick this up (it’d be like less than a 0.5) but once again, for the sake of this argument I’m going to amplify its effects and raise it to a 3.0.

Often felt by people, but very rarely causes damage. Shaking of indoor objects can be noticeable.”

This phenomenon is what is known as “white tears.” So yeah, the statement may hurt some feelings but is it really a reflection of “problems” white women face for being white? Is it the same as saying “I hate black girls?” Hell. No.

"But they’re only one magnitude apart on the scale!"

Ah yes, they are. But here’s the thing, for each level you increase by in the Richter scale the magnitude increases by about 31.7. That means that for every two levels you increase 1000 fold. That’s why I adjusted the effects to make them only a magnitude apart. Yeah they may seem similar on paper but if you just think about it you’ll see that one is clearly a lot worse than the other. “Reverse racism,” as it’s sometimes called, has never risen above maybe a 1.5. However, actual racism, that is racism against minorities, is still climbing to this day.People are still getting denied opportunities because they’re not white. People still go to jail because they’re not white. People still die because they’re not white. Racism against minorities still happens and the impact it has is far greater than anything “reverse racism” can produce.

Maybe throwing in some science will help you understand now.
